Holistic Sustainability

Sustainability is long-term thinking focused on the co-resilience of people & planet - also known as Doughnut Economics.

Holistic Sustainability is looking at each part of Living Sustainably. These parts are co-dependent and they influence one another. The success of one part often relies on the success of another.

All activities of an individual or group can be organized into seven parts, and they should be focused on in the following order to be most effective:

  1. Values & Culture

(what are your priorities & what you do consider “normal”)

  2. Resources

(how do they support your priorities)

(what are the resources ultimately used to accomplish)

  4. Procedure & Lifestyle

(the means by which your purpose is accomplished)

  5. Consumption

(the material impacts of your lifestyle)

  6. Community & Stakeholders

(others who are affected by #1-5 above)

  7. Partnerships & Giving Back
